Fostering Active Researchers and Working Professionals Who Are Experts of International Cultures

The Division of Intercultural Studies was established in April 2006 while continuing the tradition of the former Division of Literature, Course of International Studies founded in 1997. The two areas of specialization are Asian Culture and Western Culture. Our highly experienced faculty members teach philosophy, history, society, folklore, ethnicity, and culture. Lectures and exercises are designed for small class sizes.

In recent years, research on intercultural exchange has made dramatic progress but much remains to be explored. What is more, graduate schools are expected to actively share the outcome of these studies with society, which seeks suitable expertise and excellent practical skills, not only from researchers and educators at universities, but also from people who thrive in diverse workplaces in both global and local communities. The Division of Intercultural Studies was founded to foster exceptional individuals who can respond to such progress in research and demands of society. In order to further achieve this goal, our division is extensively open to working professionals and international students.

After enrollment, each student acquires specialized knowledge and research methods necessary for their selected area. Under their supervisors, students work diligently to prepare theses (master/doctoral) on their respective research topics.
