Seinan Gakuin University Graduate School dates to 1971 when the Division of Law’s master’s course was established. It has since been joined by master’s courses of the Division of Business Administration and the Division of Literature (English/French Literature Courses), which respectively developed doctoral courses thereafter. The Division of Economics’ master’s course followed, and this later expanded to include a doctoral course in 2009. In 1997, we added a master’s course in Intercultural Studies to the Division of Literature. This program later started a doctoral course and subsequently became an independent Division of Intercultural Studies in 2006. Master’s courses of the Division of Theology and the Division of Human Sciences were inaugurated in 2005, and both divisions opened their doctoral courses in 2007. Additionally, a master’s course in Clinical Psychology was added to the Division of Human Sciences in 2016. With these new establishments and reorganizations, Seinan Gakuin University now offers graduate school programs for all our undergraduate departments.
We constantly endeavor to provide a supportive educational and research environment to our graduate students with our exceptional faculty, a curriculum that readily addresses society’s demands for highly educated individuals and the globalization and flexibility of professional education, unique lecture rooms, an extensive library, study rooms, and a computer room.
The basis of graduate studies is the students’ steadfast commitment to their research. They must select their subject of study, read through numerous papers and academic studies, develop a research plan, and implement it. A firm sense of independence is the key to completing graduate studies and research. Supervising faculty members provide their full support for students to meet their goals.
Our humanities-centered graduate school currently has seven divisions and nine courses. Many alumni have gone on to become successful researchers and highly specialized professionals.
Seinan Gakuin University Graduate School welcomes individuals who seek to gain rich and advanced academic knowledge by nurturing their own spirit of inquiry.
