【Graduate School-wide Policy】
〔Master’s Course〕
Based on our diploma policy, Seinan Gakuin University Graduate School will accept individuals who have the foundational skills and aptitude to independently study in their selected field into the master’s course.
〔Doctoral Course〕
Based on the diploma policy, Seinan Gakuin University Graduate School will accept individuals who have a master's degree or the equivalent research experience into the doctoral course. In addition, they must be able to conduct advanced research and have the ability and aptitude to earn a doctoral degree.
【Division of Law】
〔Master’s Course〕
Based on our diploma policy, we accept individuals who have the foundational knowledge required for research activities in the master’s course of the Division of Law. In addition, they must have a clear reason for conducting their research, a strong intellectual desire, and a broad intellectual interest towards their field of research.
〔Doctoral Course〕
Based on our diploma policy, we accept individuals who have a master’s degree or the equivalent academic ability, and who have the knowledge required for advanced research activities in the doctoral course of the Division of Law. In addition, they must have a clear reason for conducting their research, a strong intellectual desire, and a broad intellectual interest towards their field of research.
【Division of Business Administration】
The Division of Business Administration has an admission policy for both the master’s course and the doctoral course. The admission policies are based on our diploma policy, with respect to the knowledge, skills, and mindset to be acquired, and our curriculum policy, with our educational system based on lectures and seminars that focus on specialized fields and beyond. We accept individuals with the goals and qualities that are listed below.
〔Master’s Course〕
(1)Individuals who have the foundational knowledge required for research at graduate schools and aim to become highly specialized professionals with a strong sense of mission.
(2)Those who have the vision to contribute to the development and improvement of industries, changing societies, and people's lives through practical activities regarding industries, companies, businesses and management.
(3)Those who have the equivalent level of knowledge as a graduate of our Department of Commerce. They also must have fundamental academic skills, foundational knowledge, and qualities (i.e., bachelor-level knowledge and research capacity) that are required for professional research in business administration, management informatics, commerce, or accounting.
(4)The above-mentioned qualities and the level of skill acquisition of the applicant will be closely evaluated based on our criteria. Applicants will be evaluated based on a written test on English or a specialized subject, a written test on the field of study of the research guidance seminar they wish to take, and an interview.
〔Doctoral Course〕
(1)Individuals who are able to acquire new theories and expertise at a level that is more advanced and specialized than in the master’s course. In addition, applicants must be able to work creatively on progressive and comprehensive issues in business administration, management informatics, commerce, or accounting.
(2)Those who have the vision to contribute to the development and improvement of academia, industries, changing societies, and people's lives through their research on specialized topics in business management, management informatics, commerce, or accounting.
(3)Applicants must have the equivalent level of knowledge as those who have completed our master’s program at the Division of Business Administration, the intellectual curiosity that is necessary for conducting advanced research at a graduate school, as well as high academic aspirations. In addition, they must present their master’s theses and other accomplishments to demonstrate their fundamental skills and ability to apply knowledge as researchers in business administration, management informatics, commerce, or accounting.
(4)The above-mentioned qualities and the level of skill acquisition of the applicant will be closely evaluated based on our criteria. Applicants will be evaluated based on their master’s thesis, an oral examination, a written test in English or Japanese, and a written test in their field of study.
【Division of Literature, English Literature Course】
〔Master’s Course〕
The English Literature Course accepts individuals across the globe who understand our university’s founding spirit and have the following qualities:
(1)Individuals who are curious and interested in acquiring a high level of proficiency in languages, primarily in English, and acquiring broad and deep knowledge of the meaning and function of the language.
(2)Those who are interested in the history, society, culture of the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as their views on human beings and the world. In addition, applicants must be curious and interested in conducting academic research on literary works as linguistic representations as well as the sociocultural phenomena.
(3)Those who are curious and interested in conducting academic research on the characteristics and functions of languages, primarily in English.
(4)Those who are curious and interested in conducting academic research on the way of communication between human beings.
(5)Those who have taken the prescribed entrance examination and have reached the predetermined passing score.
〔Doctoral Course〕
The English Literature Course accepts individuals across the globe who understand our university’s founding spirit and have the following qualities:
(1)Individuals who have adequate skills to become a researcher in any one of the four majors the English Literature Course, such as fundamental language skills, literature comprehension skills, analytical skills, and logical thinking skills. In addition, applicants must be able to demonstrate such qualities and skills through their achievements, such as their master’s thesis or presentations at academic conferences.
(2)Those who are inquisitive and dedicated to their research subject and have sound judgement.
(3)Those who have taken the prescribed entrance examination and have reached the predetermined passing score.
【Division of Literature, French Literature Course】
〔Master’s Course〕
(1)Individuals who have fundamental knowledge of the French language and culture, and want to study texts regarding French language, literature, history, and society.
(2)Those who are interested in setting discussion topics and analyzing them based on a consistent viewpoint and methodology.
(3)Those who want to improve their French proficiency by reading, academically analyzing, and comprehending texts (both written and spoken languages) from various angles.
〔Doctoral Course〕
(1)Individuals who have adequate skills, such as fundamental academic abilities, analytical skills, logical skills, to become advanced researchers in their major (French Literature and Theories or French Studies). In addition, applicants must be able to demonstrate such skills through their master’s thesis, presentations at academic conferences, and other accomplishments.
(2)Those who are curious and dedicated to their research subject and have sound judgement.
【Division of Economics】
The Division of Economics accepts individuals from across the globe who understand our university’s founding spirit and have following qualities, or have a clear objective:

(1)Individuals who aspire to become a researcher of economics or a highly advanced professional and have the foundational knowledge and language skills to achieve that.
(2)Those who have a strong intellectual curiosity and broad interest in various issues in human society.
(3)Those who have sound judgement and insight as working professionals.
(4)Those who aspire to contribute to society through economic theories and their knowledge in economy.
〔Doctoral Course〕
(1)Individuals who aspire to become advanced, specialized researchers of economy. They must also have the fundamental skills and the potential to grow in order to achieve that goal. In addition, applicants must have demonstrated such qualities through their master’s theses and other means.
(2)Those who are determined to pursue their specialized research and have sound judgement.
(3)Those who aspire to contribute to humanity, society, and the world through their academic research.
【Division of Theology】

(1)Individuals who aim to play a leading role in the Christian world or wish to study the spiritual culture throughout the world and participate in their formation.
(2)Those who have the fundamental skills (e.g. language skills and specialized knowledge in their field of study) necessary to learn and study theology.
(3)Those who are eager to learn and practice Christian ethics.
〔Doctoral Course〕
Based on our diploma policy, the Division of Theology accepts individuals who understand our university’s founding spirit and meet the following requirements:
(1)Individuals who aspire to develop their theological research to become researchers or specialized professionals that present their research accomplishments.
(2)Those who have the fundamental academic skills (e.g., language skills and specialized knowledge in their field of study) required to engage in research activities at the Division of Theology. Applicants must be able to demonstrate such abilities through their master’s thesis and conference presentations.
(3)Those who are determined to continue research and understand research ethics.
【Division of Human Sciences, Human Sciences Course】
〔Master’s Course〕
Based on our diploma policy, the master’s program of the Human Sciences Course in the Division of Human Sciences accepts individuals who have the fundamental knowledge, aptitude, and ethical standards to study human science in general and in specialized fields (pedagogy, social welfare, or psychology).
〔Doctoral Course〕
Based on our diploma policy, the doctoral program of the Human Sciences Course in the Division of Human Sciences accepts individuals who have a master's degree or equivalent level of research accomplishments. In addition, applicants must have the skill, aptitude, and research ethics to conduct more advanced research and to earn a doctoral degree in any one of the specialized fields in human science (pedagogy, social welfare, or psychology).
【Division of Human Sciences, Clinical Psychology Course】
〔Master’s Course〕
Based on our diploma policy, we accept individuals who can proactively study in the Clinical Psychology Course in the Division of Human Sciences and meet the following requirements:
1 Individuals who have a strong interest and desire to provide support as professionals in the clinical psychology field, specifically in medical care and health care, education, and welfare.
2 Those who support human rights and have the essential ethical consciousness required for interpersonal support.
3 Those who are capable in learning and have fundamental knowledge, skills, and research ability in psychology and clinical psychology.
4 Those who have common sense, social skills, and interpersonal abilities (ability to build and maintain good human relationships).
【Division of Intercultural Studies】
〔Master’s Course〕
The master's course of the Division of Intercultural Studies widely accepts individuals who meet the following requirements:
(1)Individuals who have a deep interest in their field of study as well as related fields. In addition, applicants must have fundamental knowledge and language skills.
(2)Those who have a global perspective on various issues and are motivated to conduct research in the international community.
(3)Those who have the ability to write a master’s thesis in Japanese and participate in discussions for their research.
〔Doctoral Course〕
The doctoral program at the Division of Intercultural Studies widely accepts individuals who meet the following requirements:
(1)Individuals who have a master’s degree or master’s-level knowledge and interest in their field of study as well as related fields. Applicants must also have foreign language skills.
(2)Those who have a sufficient level of experience in writing and presenting research papers in their field of study. In addition, they must have an interdisciplinary perspective and ethical standards as a researcher.
〔Master’s Course〕

【Division of Business Administration】
The Division of Business Administration has an admission policy for both the master’s course and the doctoral course. The admission policies are based on our diploma policy, with respect to the knowledge, skills, and mindset to be acquired, and our curriculum policy, with our educational system based on lectures and seminars that focus on specialized fields and beyond. We accept individuals with the goals and qualities that are listed below.

(4)The above-mentioned qualities and the level of skill acquisition of the applicant will be closely evaluated based on our criteria. Applicants will be evaluated based on their master’s thesis, an oral examination, a written test in English or Japanese, and a written test in their field of study.
