【Division of Law】
〔Master’s Course〕
Students are conferred this degree upon completing the subjects established by the Master’s Course in the Division of Law; obtaining the defined number of credits; and passing the evaluation process determined by said division, having acquired the following:
1.Fundamental knowledge of the level of the scholarship on the selected field of research
2.An accurate understanding of the significance of the research in the selected field, in addition to the ability to accomplish the exploration with a unique perspective
3.The ability to conduct creative research on issues caused by the changes in modern society
4.Abundant critical thinking skills and sensitivity to human rights, which assume the foundation of the subsequent intellectual society
〔Doctoral Course〕
Students are conferred this degree upon receiving research guidance established along the educational philosophy of the Doctoral Course in the Division of Law; obtaining the defined number of credits; and passing the evaluation process determined by said division, having acquired the following:
1.Competence to carry out ongoing projects as an independent researcher
2.Outstanding ability to carry out creative academic research with deep and broad knowledge
3.The mindset to contribute to academia and society by presenting unique findings, based on the level of the scholarship on the selected field of research
【Division of Business Administration】
Students are conferred a degree by having their master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation evaluated based on objective criteria as well as a fair procedure and evaluation system.
〔Master’s Course〕
(1)To obtain a master’s degree, the student is required to obtain thirty or more credits from seminars held by the supervising professor and from various special lectures as well as by presenting his/her achievements at the interim report meeting, and on completion of his/her master’s thesis, pass the evaluation process.
(2)The master’s thesis is carefully evaluated based on appropriateness of knowledge in the field of research, clarity and originality of the method and content of the research topic, precision of the argument, and the quality of writing, among others.
(3)The student must also have a master’s-level understanding of the area of specialization (one of the following four areas: business administration, management informatics, commerce, or accounting). Furthermore, he/she must have the ability to discover and analyze problems in that field, the skill to apply that specialized knowledge in analytical work, and the competence to organize and communicate the results of that analysis logically. In addition to these aptitudes, the student must have the capacity to play an active role as a leader in the business community with a sense of social responsibility and high ethical standards.
〔Doctoral Course〕
(1)To obtain a doctoral degree, the student is required to obtain four credits per year for a total of twelve credits from the research guidance by the supervising professor, two or more credits from the dissertation guidance, submitting the dissertation during the period of enrollment, and pass its evaluation process.
(2)The doctoral dissertation is carefully evaluated based on the clarity and originality of the purpose, objective, and method of the research; the significance of the explored content to the research history and evidence of its contribution; the systematicity and consistency of the writing; appropriate range of literature references; the quality of writing; lucidity of the argument; and the pertinence of the publication, among others.
(3)The student must also have advanced professional insight and scientific research methods in the area of specialization (one of the following four areas: business administration, management informatics, commerce, or accounting), contribute to academia and the business community with unique findings based on objective and logical research, and have the capacity to continue his/her work as an independent researcher.
【Division of Literature, English Literature Course】
〔Master’s Course〕
The English Literature Course confers a master’s degree to those who are recognized as having the following:
(1)A high level of language proficiency, primarily in English, and a broad and deep knowledge of the meanings and functions of said language.
(2)Diverse and profound knowledge of British and American histories, literatures, societies, cultures, as well as British and American views on human beings and the world.
(3)Extensive academic knowledge of literary works and sociocultural phenomena as linguistic representations, in addition to how communication exists between people.
(4)Fundamental knowledge of the specialized subject offered by the course, accurate understanding of texts and material, the ability to organize and analyze previous research, comprehension of issues in the field of research, clear logic development, and an exceptional quality of writing.
(5)Thirty or more credits from required lectures and seminars, completion of the master’s thesis, and success in passing its evaluation process.
(6)A sense of social responsibility and high ethical standards required of highly skilled professionals.
〔Doctoral Course〕
The English Literature Course confers a master’s degree to those who are recognized as having the following:
(1)Skills that are indicative of a highly advanced and specialized researcher in one of the four areas of study in the Division of Literature’s English Literature Course, including exceptional linguistic proficiency, analytical ability, precise logical composition skills, meticulous theoretical development competence, and intellect, demonstrated through academic papers and active presentations at conferences.
(2)An inquisitive mind and a strong will to pursue the research subject, as well as various practical abilities supported by outstanding research.
(3)Submission of the dissertation according to the predetermined schedule and procedure, and success in pass its evaluation process.
(4)A total of fourteen credits from the research guidance by the supervising professor (four credits per year, for a total of twelve) and from the dissertation guidance (two credits), submission of the dissertation during the period of enrollment, and success in pass the evaluation process.
(5)Broad and deep knowledge of the field of research, a clear and appropriate research method, significance and originality of their research subject, systematicity and consistency, clear logic development, and an exceptional quality of writing.
(6)High ethical standards required of researchers and highly skilled professionals with deep and rich academic knowledge, in addition to the mindset to contribute to academia and society.
【Division of Literature, French Literature Course】
〔Master’s Course〕
The French Literature Course confers a master’s degree to those who are recognized as having the following:
(1)A high level of language proficiency, primarily in French, and a broad and deep knowledge of the meanings and functions of said language.
(2)Diverse and profound knowledge of and interest in the languages, literatures, philosophies, societies, cultures, and histories of Francophone countries.
(3)Fundamental knowledge of the field of study and proof of the ability to accurately express pertinent research content on one of the themes of said field, according to a precise argument, sufficient quality of writing, and research ethics.
〔Doctoral Course〕
(1)Students are required to demonstrate their exceptional linguistic proficiency and analytical ability as a highly advanced and specialized researcher, through academic papers and active presentations at conferences, in one of the following two academic frameworks: the French Literature’s Specialization Area (Literature and Philosophy) or the French Language’s Specialization Area.
(2)Having selected a specialization subject, students must obtain a total of fourteen credits from the research guidance by the supervising professor (four credits per year, for a total of twelve) and from the dissertation guidance (two credits), submit their dissertation during the period of enrollment, and pass its evaluation process.
(3)The dissertation must have an original research topic and corpus setting, clarify its significance in and contribution to the specific field, a precise argument, appropriate literature reference and data handling, as well as consistency in its research ethics.
【Division of Economics】
〔Master’s Course〕
A master’s degree in economics is conferred to those who are recognized as having the following, which are befitting of professionals with highly specialized knowledge as well as researchers and educators with advanced research capabilities:
(1)The designated thirty credits obtained from seminars and other required classes, in accordance with the curriculum of the master’s program of the Division of Economics.
(2)A research topic suitable for the master’s degree, based on a foundation of economics and keen awareness of relevant issues, accompanied by recognition of the ability necessary to collect data and analyze material to solve said issues.
(3)Abilities to analyze and integrate information to proceed to the conclusion of the research topic, to assemble the argument logically, and to demonstrate quality writing.
(4)High ethical standards as a researcher.
(5)A master’s thesis that is deemed to meet the criteria of sufficient knowledge on the research field, appropriate topic and content, a clear argument, and quality writing and has been presented publicly.
〔Doctoral Course〕
A doctoral degree in economics is conferred to those who are recognized as having the following:
(1)Twelve or more credits obtained in accordance with the curriculum of the doctoral program of the Division of Economics.
(2)A unique contribution or improvement, at an advanced level, to existing findings or an analysis method related to the research topic.
(3)Creative research skills and achievements in a new research field.
(4)Collection and discovery of new materials after scrutinizing previous research, which led to new interpretations and discoveries regarding that previous research and establishment of awareness for said discoveries.
(5)Creative research skills that are considered to be of a superior academic standard and acknowledged to demonstrate high levels of resource and achievement.
(6)Fulfillment of the following criteria for the doctoral dissertation: clear and original research purpose, objective, and method; explicit significance of the research as well as its contribution; systematicity and consistency throughout the dissertation; appropriate range of literature references; and articulate writing and precise arguments.
(7)Completion of a dissertation of more than 60,000 characters in Japanese or 24,000 words in English.
【Division of Theology】
〔Master’s Course〕
The Division of Theology confers a master’s degree to those who acquire the following and pass the division’s examination:
(1)Fundamental knowledge in each specialization area of theology and have demonstrated their insights as highly specialized professionals in various situations, including training sessions.
(2)Thirty credits or more from seminars under the supervising professor and required classes in the field of study, in addition to a master’s thesis developed on accurate understanding of texts and material and success in passing its evaluation process based on objective criteria.
(3)Awareness of the social responsibilities required of those in specialized professions, and high ethical standards to live and act righteously.
〔Doctoral Course〕
The Division of Theology confers a doctoral degree to those acquire the following intellectual and ethical skills and passed the division’s evaluation process:
(1)Further understanding of theology than that acquired during their master’s course, unique insights, as well as demonstration of their ability to carry out research as an independent researcher through papers and presentations at conferences.
(2)Fourteen credits from research guidance (4 credits per academic year) and dissertation guidance (2 credits) under the supervising professor, through which they acquired the skill to scrutinize and criticize previous research on the literature to complete their doctoral dissertations, and passed the evaluation process based on objective criteria.
(3)Advanced academic knowledge and high ethical standards required as researchers and highly specialized professionals.
【Division of Human Sciences, Human Sciences Course】
〔Master’s Course〕
Students are conferred a master’s degree for demonstrating the learnings they acquired though undergraduate education, taking courses that follow the educational philosophy of the Human Sciences Course in the Division of Human Sciences, earning the required credits, and passing the evaluation process determined by the division. In addition, students must acquire the following:
1.Broad knowledge of and insight into human sciences, and deep academic knowledge of their chosen field (pedagogy, social welfare, or psychology)
2.Research abilities in each their specific field of specialization in Human Science
3.Advanced skills required of professionals in Human Science
4.Social responsibility and ethical standards as a professional in Human Science
〔Doctoral Course〕
Students are conferred a doctoral degree for further progressing the research skills and academic knowledge they acquire in the master’s program, receiving research guidance that follows the educational philosophy of the Human Sciences Course in the Division of Human Sciences, earning the required credits, and passing the evaluation process determined by the division. In addition, students must acquire the following:
1.The ability to conduct research independently in each specialized field of human science (education, social welfare, or psychology).

【Division of Human Sciences, Clinical Psychology Course】
〔Master’s Course〕
Students are conferred a master’s degree for demonstrating the learnings they have acquired through their undergraduate education, taking classes that follow the educational philosophy of the Clinical Psychology Course in the Division of Human Sciences, earning the required credits, and by passing the examination determined by the division. In addition, students must acquire the following:
1.Qualification for the clinical psychologist examination (accredited by the Foundation of the Japanese Certification Board for Clinical Psychologists), as well as the certified psychologist (national qualification) examination. In addition, students must nurture a comprehensive and multifaceted perspective on human beings and society. Finally, they must have a deep understanding and ability to practice specialized knowledge and techniques in the field of clinical psychology.
2.Necessary and sufficient level of ethical awareness and sense of responsibility as an individual in the clinical setting.
3.Ability to conduct clinical psychological research that contributes to improving the level of clinical psychology practices.
4.Quality and skill to cooperate and collaborate with other occupations in medical care and health services, education, and welfare settings.
【Division of Intercultural Studies】
〔Master’s Course〕
The Division of Intercultural Studies confers a master’s degree to those who meet the following requirements:
(1)The ability to understand the culture created by human beings from various broad perspectives (e.g., regional culture/comparative culture perspectives), and have acquired specialized knowledge.
(2)The language skills necessary for research, primarily through literature, but also in the field.
(3)The necessary thirty credits from seminars, special lectures, and on-site research under the guidance of the supervisor. In addition, student must submit the master’s thesis and pass its evaluation process.
(4)Sound judgment and ethical standards as a researcher.
〔Doctoral course〕
The Division of Intercultural Studies confers a doctoral degree to those who meet the following requirements:
(1)Research results further developed from the master’s course, unique and advanced specialized knowledge, as well as perspectives for interdisciplinary research.
(2)Advanced language skills and presentation skills required for conducting bibliographic surveys, field surveys, and research for conferences.
(3)A total of twelve credits from research guidance and dissertation guidance (4 credits per academic year), submission of the doctoral dissertation during the enrollment period, and success in passing the evaluation process. The dissertation is evaluated based on the uniqueness of the research topic, clarity of the research method based on previous research, precision of logical development, validity of the study, and ethical standards as a researcher.

The French Literature Course confers a master’s degree to those who are recognized as having the following:
(1)A high level of language proficiency, primarily in French, and a broad and deep knowledge of the meanings and functions of said language.
(2)Diverse and profound knowledge of and interest in the languages, literatures, philosophies, societies, cultures, and histories of Francophone countries.

Students are conferred a master’s degree for demonstrating the learnings they have acquired through their undergraduate education, taking classes that follow the educational philosophy of the Clinical Psychology Course in the Division of Human Sciences, earning the required credits, and by passing the examination determined by the division. In addition, students must acquire the following:
1.Qualification for the clinical psychologist examination (accredited by the Foundation of the Japanese Certification Board for Clinical Psychologists), as well as the certified psychologist (national qualification) examination. 【Division of Intercultural Studies】
〔Master’s Course〕
The Division of Intercultural Studies confers a master’s degree to those who meet the following requirements:
(1)The ability to understand the culture created by human beings from various broad perspectives (e.g., regional culture/comparative culture perspectives), and have acquired specialized knowledge.
(2)The language skills necessary for research, primarily through literature, but also in the field.
(3)The necessary thirty credits from seminars, special lectures, and on-site research under the guidance of the supervisor. In addition, student must submit the master’s thesis and pass its evaluation process.
(4)Sound judgment and ethical standards as a researcher.
〔Doctoral course〕
The Division of Intercultural Studies confers a doctoral degree to those who meet the following requirements:
(1)Research results further developed from the master’s course, unique and advanced specialized knowledge, as well as perspectives for interdisciplinary research.
(2)Advanced language skills and presentation skills required for conducting bibliographic surveys, field surveys, and research for conferences.
(3)A total of twelve credits from research guidance and dissertation guidance (4 credits per academic year), submission of the doctoral dissertation during the enrollment period, and success in passing the evaluation process. The dissertation is evaluated based on the uniqueness of the research topic, clarity of the research method based on previous research, precision of logical development, validity of the study, and ethical standards as a researcher.
