1. This is a reading and writing course intended to introduce you to the interesting field of applied ethics while also giving you the chance to develop English for report and essay writing.
2. We will use a Course Packet An Introduction to Applied Ethics which you should buy at the Campus Bookstore. Materials for this packet have been obtained from a variety of sources although most has come from the Encyclopedia of Applied Ethics (Academic Press) which can be found in the Seinan Library.
3. Assessment in this subject is based on attendance, on your productivity throughout the year gauged by the written work ("Tasks") you send me by email and by two "seen" tests .
We will look at the following:
Introduction - What is Applied Ethics?
Module 1 - Life and Death
Module 2 - Equality and Fairness
Module 3 - Expanding the Circle of Morality
Conclusion - How should we behave?
