Fees and Dates

Important notes:
・All fees are listed in Japanese Yen (JPY).
・We reserve the right to change fees, schedules and programs without notice and to cancel sessions if enrollment is insufficient.

- Airfare

Refund Policy

If you wish to withdraw from the program, you must inform Seinan by e-mail <inbound@seinan-gu.ac.jp>. The following refund policy applies based on the date of withdrawal notification by e-mail:

Session 1 Session 2
Full Refund up to 30 days before the start date up to 30 days before the start date
80% Refund up to 16 days before the start date up to 16 days before the start date
50% Refund up to 2 days before the start date up to 2 days before the start date
No Refund from a day before the start date from a day before the start date

Important notes:
All dates are shown based on JST (Japan Standard Time).
The 12,000JPY program application fee is non-refundable.
All processing fees related to the bank transfer will be deducted from the refund.
The refund amount is calculated separately for Session 1+2 applicants based on the date of withdrawal notification by email.

Application Information

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants MUST:

have completed 12 years or more of formal education in educational institutions outside Japan
be living outside Japan upon application
JAPANESE PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS


Session 1

 

This session is intended for those who HAVE NEVER STUDIED Japanese grammar before.
*If you have ever studied, you are not qualified to apply for this session. Please consider applying for Session 2 if you meet the requirements for Session 2.

PREREQUISITE
You must be able to write and read Hiragana and Katakana by the session start date.


Session 2

This session is designed for those who have studied Japanese at educational institutions for at least ONE SEMESTER by the session start date, or for those who possess an equivalent of the above-mentioned education.

     

PREREQUISITE
Upon application, you are required to be able to use a “Te-Form” in the following patterns:

・ make requests (Please do ~)
・ give and ask for permissions (You may do ~ / May I do ~?)
・ make sentences that describe two events or activities (~ and ~)

1
+2

These combined sessions are designed for those who have never studied Japanese before but would like to participate in Session 2.

                      

PREREQUISITE
You are required to be able to write and read Hiragana and Katakana by the Session 1 start date. Upon successful completion of the Session 1, you will be able to enroll in Level 1 (Beginning) class in Session 2.

Complete the Self-Assessment
*Required to be completed BEFORE online application.

In order for us to place the Session 2 applicants into the appropriate Japanese class level, all Session 2 applicants are required to take the Japanese Proficiency Self-Assessment beforehand.
Prepare yourself to report the levels of your Japanese proficiency in 5 language activities:

Listening, Writing, Reading, Speaking (presenting), and Speaking (conversational) upon application.

 2) Complete your assessment by following the instructions here.
 3) Your Japanese levels in 5 activities will be automatically assessed at the 6 levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, or C2.

Session 2 applicants will be asked to report their self-assessment results in
[Part V], the very last part of online application.

[STEP 2 (ALL applicants)]
Send us the following required documents digitally by e-mail <inbound@seinan-gu.ac.jp>

1.  Digital image of the applicant’s photo (in jpeg format)
    Your photo must be:
      - taken within the last six months
      - clear and in focus
      - taken against a plain background
      - taken with no hats or head covering

2.  Copy of passport photo page (in pdf/jpeg format)

3.  (Applicants from partner institutions only)
    Proof of your current enrollment at your home institution (in pdf/jpeg format)
     Either of the following digital copy is accepted:
       - Student ID card issued by your home institution
       - Certificate of Enrollment in English
