You are allowed to engage in the part-time job for less than 28 hours per week (4 hours a day). You may apply for the permission of part-time job after one month from the enrollment date. Application details will be announced at the orientation.

Should I subscribe to a local public health insurance program
or to a Japanese one?

There are several medical support services available listed below. However, it is highly advisable that you acquire a health insurance in your home country before coming to Japan. This is because there are certain types and range of treatments that can be covered by the medical services provided by the organizations below.

Medical Fee Reimbursement System from Japanese Government
Students must take out a health/accident insurance either in Japan or in their home country. Make sure that it is valid in Japan. By taking out Japanese National Health Insurance, about 70 % of the medical costs will be reimbursed by Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).

Personal Accident Insurance
All the Seinan students, whichever Japanese or international, are obliged to hold this insurance during the term of enrollment as a school policy. Insurance premium is 950(JPY) for a year, which will be billed later to you from the CIE Office. Read the booklet carefully and consult with the CIE Office when you suffer any disaster or accident in school activities or injury while commuting to school. The insurance is effective from October 1.

Are there any scholarships available when studying at your university?

Scholarships are available from JASSO, the Japan Student Services Organization, which can provide a stipend of 80,000 yen per month plus 150,000 yen relocation allowance (upon arrival only). JASSO will allocate the quota of scholarships according to the yearly plan in January. Then, Seinan Gakuin University will decide scholarship candidate recipient according to the past record of issuance and balance. We will notify the result to the recipient university (including the recipient number) in April. We will recommend the student who has been nominated by the home university to JASSO in May. The final announcement of the recipient will be made in end-June.
